The Light by Common

I wish Common would watch me sleep–I’m mean–what? Common, born Rashid Lynn, Jr. and formerly known as Common Sense, is an American rapper and actor. He’s been around since 1992 with the album Can I Borrow a Dollar?, and starred in films such as “Smokin’ AcesStreet KingsAmerican Gangster,WantedTerminator SalvationDate NightJust WrightHappy Feet Two, and New Year’s Eve.”

Grammy nominated single, The Light, comes from his fourth studio album in 2000 entitled Like Water for Chocolate. The song contains a sample from “Open Your Eyes” as performed by Bobby Caldwell and a sample from “You’re Getting A Little Too Smart” (the drums) by The Detroit Emeralds. This remixed version features vocals from Erykah Badu
