The new band, MS MR, has been popping up all over the place lately. Lizzy Plapinger, MS, and Max Hershenow, MR, of New York seemed to have exploded on to the scene in 2012 with their song, “Hurricane.” They have since received more than 1.5 million views for an unofficial video for the track on YouTube, was awarded ‘Best New Track’ on Pitchfork, and the single quickly rose to number one on Hype Machine.

You may have already heard their song, “Bones,” from the trailer for Game of Thrones Season 3 and “Hurricane” on catwalks during Fashion Week. I had heard their song, “Dark doo wop” in 2012 off of their EP, but after I heard the first track off of their upcoming album Secondhand Rapture, called “Fantasy,” I really fell in love and just sat down to listen to everything they put out.

The duo, reminiscent to the sounds of  Florence and the Machine, Lana Del Rey and Kavinsky, released their debut album, Secondhand Rapture, on May 10, 2013.
