Christmas Message

I watch as my key slides into the lock on the front door of my apartment. I listen to the clicking and clacking of tumbling parts working to grant me entrance to my apartment. I open the door, and I am greeted by a very loving gray long-hair cat purring and rubbing up against my black vegan leather ankle boots. As I unfold my body back into an upright standing position after gently petting the friendly feline, my jaw drops in horror as I witness the spirit and the aftermath of Krampus. (more…)

OctPoWriMo Day 12: Writing Through Writer’s Block

There are days when there is a need to write and yet nothing to say.
A need to feel a fountain pen in hand gliding across a smooth page,
Or the demand to feel plastic keys move up and down like a ballet.

There’s a mission to move thoughts birthed and housed in gray matter
So that they can entertain and engage others out in the rest of the world.
Those days are the ones where the page is filled up with empty chatter.

The subject evolves from nothing into writing for writing’s sake,
And when the writing’s forced the theme takes a U-turn into procrastination.
Having nothing to say leaves the writer with so much heartache. (more…)


“C” is for Cat

Screen Shot 2014-09-17 at 6.33.02 AMThere’s a countdown on my fridge written in dry erase marker on a magnetic board displaying the days left until our cat’s birthday. Everyone who has come over to the apartment has exclaimed his or her excitement for the event of the year.

“Hey, so are you going to the birthday party on the 28th?” my sister had asked a firefighter friend.

“Yes! I’m so down!”

“Yeah, were going to have hats, decorations and stick a candle in her food and everything.”

“Oh, my gosh! I’m so excited.” (more…)
