OctPoWriMo Day 4: “Between Clouds & The Water” Writing Prompt
My body peacefully drifts across the surface of the pool of water like a piece of wood lost at sea.
I open my eyes for a moment to see the delicate puffs of material like white cotton floating over me.
I close my eyes as I continue to drift between the clouds and the water, barely sinking into the cool blue.
I plan to wait there until the air grows cold and the sun hides behind the grayer clouds giving me the cue.
OctPoWriMo Day 5: Seeing Red
It’s a fast car speeding down the highway
With the taillights whizzing by.
It’s the tired veins growing more intense,
As they consume more space in your eye.
It’s the pool of liquid that has seeped out
From the mangled flesh of a wounded body.
There are hints of it that shine in the shadows
As one mixes a smooth Hot Toddy.
I’ll notice its type in a tall wine glass
From the skin of the apple and the cherry,
And the dots of itchy chicken pox,
To the dimpled layer covering the strawberry.
I’m reminded of parties with beer bong
And wild nights from its cup.
We’d toss them along with our memories
As we all tried to sober up.
OctPoWriMo Day 6: Arizona
I lie on top of your curves and watch the sunrise from in between your valleys,
Your soft skin reveals hues of red as I climb across your body.
I feel the sharp pangs as I run my hands across some prickly stubble,
I write stories of your treasures as grand as Walter Raleigh’s.
I am heated by your warmth and admire your desert vibe.
I take note of your quiet demeanor and yet how you seem so wild,
And although I do not visit you often I’m grateful that you are near.
More than just a state of mind you’re better than anything I can describe.
OctPoWriMo Day 7: What is Life? (Haiku)
A complicated
and bittersweet series of
events before death.
